YouTuber ‘PlayMeThrough‘ has leaked the entirety of The Order: 1886 on PS4, and clocks a run-time of just five hours, spurring much debate over the apparent ‘quality over quantity’ approach taken by developer, Ready at Dawn. However, it has quickly become obvious that players need not worry over the brevity of the title scheduled for release Friday.
It seems that while it is possible to blitz the game at this break-neck speed, many will find this tricky as the leaked video shows the player almost never dying, skipping a large quantity of side-mission type objectives, and, to put it simply, achieving the bare minimum.
Fans have always recognised Ready at Dawn’s focus on style and quality, however many have voiced opinions over the fear that this focus on visual aesthetics may have detracted from the amount of play time they are purchasing. However, this apparent five hour limit is definitely to be taken with more than a pinch of salt.
At the end of the day, the game is what you make of it.
If you are looking to speed through the game with little peripheral regard, then you may be looking at a shorter game but you will definitely lose out on the experience of it. With pre-release screenshots pointing toward a visually dazzling experience, and the game offering a compelling concept in terms of its alternate history setting, it seems obvious that most players will spend a lot more time exploring, battling, and ultimately savouring all that Victorian London werewolves can throw at them.
