There’s never really been a place to honor the best of the best games. Every gaming website has reviews and best-of lists, and a few pieces of gaming hardware have made it into the National Toy Hall of Fame, but that’s it. Now, The Strong museum in New York (home of the aforementioned National Toy Hall of Fame) has announced that it is establishing a place of honor for electronic games themselves: the World Video Game Hall of Fame. The Strong is taking nominations for the inaugural class until March 31st, and anyone who cares to do so can nominate a game by visiting http://www.worldvideogamehalloffame.org/nominate and entering the requisite information. Games will be considered based on icon status, longevity, geographical reach, and influence. The class of 2015 will be announced in June. The Strong is already home to the largest public collection of videogames and related materials in the United States, so the Hall of Fame is sure to be a sight to see.
