Leaked E3 trailer shows Hyrule Warriors coming to 3DS

Nintendo fans looking forward to fresh Zelda news at E3 got an early treat on Wednesday when a Hyrule Warriors trailer leaked onto the internet. Not only does it appear that Link and friends will be bringing the baddie-smashing action to Nintendo 3DS sometime soon, but they’ll be joined by some new allies as well.

Tetra and the King of Red Lions of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker fame look to be playable in the 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors. While Tetra carries a pistol that packs a wallop, the King can turn into a boat and crush his enemies right in the middle of the battlefield. There also appears to be a golden ocarina to collect.

If you stay tuned to the end of the trailer, you can see that the two new characters can be transferred over to Hyrule Warriors on the Wii U. I’m sure Nintendo is hoping to entice both old and new players alike to pick up both copies of the game. Whether or not this is an effort to tide fans over until a true Wii U Zelda game is released is another story.
