Arc System Works picks up classic Technos IP

Arc System Works, developer of world-class fighting games such as the Guilty Gear and BlazBlue series, has announced that effective June 1st, 2015, all Intangible Property Rights of all titles previously owned by Technos Japan Corp., including but not limited to the Double Dragon, Super Dodge Ball, River City Ransom, and the Kunio-kun series, has been transferred from Million Co., Ltd. to Arc System Works Co., Ltd.

Technos closed its doors in the late 1990s and its assets were purchased by Million Co., Ltd.  Million would come to release a number of titles for Game Boy Advance and DS in the Double Dragon, River City Ransom, and Super Dodge Ball series but none on the major consoles.

Arc System Works has not yet revealed its plans for the properties, but I think it’s safe to bet that the company has some big plans to create cool and fun new entries in these classic gaming franchises.  I, for one, cannot wait to see how these classic titles are updated to play on current-gen systems.
