Kalypso Media has announced that their second entry to the Grand Ages series, Grand Ages: Medieval will be their first ever game released on console. The immense strategy game will make its console debut on Playstation4, alongside the PC version, on September 25th.
Grand Ages: Medieval is a real-time, grand scale strategy game set in the High Middle Ages, beginning in the year 1050AD. The player enters the game-world as a mayor of a small European settlement, with dreams of becoming an emperor. The aim of the game is to lead your people to greatness, expanding trade routes, building and developing settlements and researching new technologies and warfare in order to become the grandest empire in the known world. Incidentally, the known world in the case of Grand Ages: Medieval is an area over 20 million km large, all rendered in fantastic 1080p definition.
In addition to this massive world ripe for the taking in single player mode, players can also satisfy more aggressive urges in an exciting 8-player multiplayer function in which they can tackle friends online, without even having to leave the game and interrupting your development schedule. However, you might come back to your single player campaign to find your settlements overrun in your absence!
On top of the massively immersive map in the campaign mode, and the exciting multiplayer function, Kalypso Media has announced some other interesting features of the game:
- Raise an army and fight your opponents with knights, archers and cavalry
- Produce and trade 20 different goods to meet the demands of your citizens and soldiers: such as coal, fruits and pottery
- Research and utilise 50 major technological advancements of the Middle Ages: including the three-field crop rotation, the low warp loom or the longbow
- Face devastating natural disasters like storms, fires, volcanoes, droughts, earthquakes… or even the Black Death
