Hi-Rez studios revealed the very first details on the SMITE World Championship presented by Xbox One. The world championship will take place from January 7 thru January 10, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia. Teams from North America, Europe, Brazil, Latin America and Oceania will duke it out for the grand prize and title of SMITE world champions. The 2016 world championship will feature two tournaments, the SMITE PC World Championship and the SMITE Xbox One Invitational.
Hi-Rez Studios revealed that it will cap the SMITE PC prize pool to $1 million in the hope to distribute winnings throughout the season to other players at future events. They intend to distribute over $2 million in prizes throughout the season at various events and tournaments.
The SMITE Xbox One Invitational will include four of the top teams currently playing on the Xbox One console. These four teams will be competing for a total prize pool of $150,000.
Season 2 of SMITE is currently underway on PC. It is currently in open beta on Xbox One, with a launch date to be determined, but aimed for later this summer. For more information on SMITE on both platforms, visit their website here.
