When will we see a Skyrim sequel?

Answer: not for a “very long time”

I, for one, have been waiting with baited breathe for The Elder Scrolls VI to be announced ever since the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, in 2011. Skyrim was the pinnacle of all games for me, and was what drew me into the immense world of fantasy RPGs. Even now, years later, it still has me going back to play more.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

So, after the enormous success of Skyrim in 2011, we all expected that Bethesda Softworks would race to complete the next title in the series. Sadly, this does not appear to be true. It has been almost four years now since the release of Skyrim without fans having  heard more than whispers and rumors of the next game in The Elder Scrolls series. Of course, the The Elder Scrolls Online was released last year. However, due to its small success and huge amount of criticism by many fans of The Elder Scrolls series it has been  largely ignored, and is often not considered part of the series at all.

Now, Bethesda VP of marketing Pete Hines has announced to DualShockers during Gamescom that Bethesda is “100% focused” on Fallout 4, and that it will be a “very long time” before the Bethesda team will talk about the project that will follow Fallout 4, which will be released this November. While I am personally very disappointed by this announcement, there is some consolation for fans. The Elder Scrolls: Legendsa free-to-play strategy card game which was revealed during the Electronic Entertainment Expo conference is being released in September, 2015, for iOS and Windows.

And if that doesn’t keep you busy, then you can always replay Skyrim!
