Activision Blizzard Studios will bring popular titles to film and TV

 

Activison Blizzard Studios is set to begin work on “Skylanders Academy”, a TV series based on the popular toys-to-life game, along with a series of films set in the Call of Duty universe. Former Disney executive Nick van Dyk will bring his experience to the new studio by serving as Co-President alongside a senior creative executive who has yet to be announced.

Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick says that Activision Blizzard Studios will help the company give fans the chance to get more of the characters they love, and says “Activision Blizzard Studios is yet another way were celebrating our players and fans, and we expect that our film and television productions will entertain and delight whole new audiences, as well.”

This announcement comes in the midst of an already busy time for Activision Blizzard. Call of Duty: Black Ops III came out Friday and the company recently announced plans for a new esports division as well as plans to take over mobile-game developer King Digital Entertainment.
