Netherealm Studios has released a trailer featuring the first in-game look at the four characters (Kharacters?) coming to Mortal Kombat X over 2016. The Kombat Pack 2 DLC was teased and then finally announced, to a very mixed reaction, at the end of 2015.
Tri-Borg, an amalgamation of MK robots past, will star alongside drunken master and comical buffoon Bo’Rai’Cho, who is bringing his trademark brand of gross bodily functions back to MK’s brutal battles. Guest stars are The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface and a Xenomorph from the Alien series, a guest long since rumored for the franchise.
The video also features footage of a returning arena, the infamous “Pit”, which will surely include the inevitable tumble to a gruesome demise.
More information about these characters can be expected over the coming months from NRS and its lead, that scamp Ed Boon.
I personally am not interested in these new characters, and would much rather have more MK roster members than any special guests (I’m particularly despondent at the absence of my main squeeze, Sindel). But Tri-borg will no doubt be greeted with open arms by Cyrax/Sektor fans, and Alien fans will rejoice over the ability to unleash face-hugger assisted carnage.
With these additions, hopefully the popularity of MKX will be extended long after it faces its stiffest opposition, in the form of Street Fighter V, launching next month.
Mortal Kombat X is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Kombat Pack 2 price and date to be konfirmed.
