PlayStation 4 owners can now get their hands on the first DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, also known as Awakening, before any other console owner does. The DLC, released by publisher Activision and developer Treyarch, contains brand new multiplayer map packs for all the competitive gamers out there. However, not all excitement can be quenched, for the DLC will not be available for Xbox 360 nor PlayStation 3. It’ll only be out for current/next gen consoles and PC.
Awakening includes 4 high-sounding maps: Skyjacked, Splash, Gauntlet, and Rise. The first map, Skyjacked, is set in Zurich, Switzerland. It is the revamped version of the infamous Call of Duty: Black Ops II multiplayer map, Hijacked, which introduces gamers to new maneuvers. Splash, on the other hand, is set in a deserted water park, which guarantees a daringly-flamboyant in-game environment, which allows for more combat tactic variations.
On the other hand, the value added by the map Gauntlet is the existence of multiple environments in one map: a jungle, an arctic environment, and an urban environment – all in one map, hence enriching the gameplay experience. The fourth map, Rise, is equally-dependent on the use of cover as a tactic, or using less stealth by moving using the surrounding environment.
The DLC does not only include the aforementioned map packs, but it includes a Zombies odyssey, titled Der Eisendrache. Der Eisendrache is expected to continue on telling the story after the previous Zombie chapter The Giant ended. It is set in a prehistoric medieval castle (you read that right: zombies in a castle – wait for it – during the time of WWI). In this experience, questions shall be answered, and the unexpected shall occur.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III Awakening can be yours at a lower price if you have the DLC Season Pass for the game. If you don’t, you can easily purchase the map packs individually; you can buy it for around $15. For more information on Call of Duty: Black Ops III Awakening, check their official website.
