Kalypso’s new IP ‘Urban Empire’ to show at GDC 2016

Let’s face it; we all think we could run our cities better than most of our leadership. Kalypso Media’s newest title Urban Empire allows players to put their money where their mouth is and take the helm as Mayor of their very own city. Developed by Fragment Productions, Urban Empire is a trendsetter in a new breed of strategy games that combines city building features with political scheming.

Starting at the Industrial Age, players will establish infrastructures, plan city districts, bribe or blackmail your opponents, empower the democratic rights of your people, or ignore them completely and reign supreme with ironfisted dictatorship. At the end of the day it is up to the player–Mayor–to make the ultimate decision and determine the fate of the city’s people.

Players will not only be the city’s builder but the city’s ruler.

Choose from four families with five characters each, such as social justice advocates the Kilgannons, or the Sant’Elias, who focus on scientific progress and the pursuit of knowledge.
Players can influence decisions on issues such as women’s rights, the hippie movement, child labor laws, and loads more.

Urban Empire’s public debut will be at GDC 2016 this week. This world building powerhouse is slated for wide release this fall for PC.
