Have you ever wondered what it takes to write music for videogames?
Picture it now: You’re at PAX East 2016 on Saturday the 23rd of April.
While you’re getting photos and autographs, picking up a few art prints and that dubious anime girl statue that you know you’re going to have to hide when your mother comes to visit, music enthusiasts will want to drop into the Maestros of Video Games panel.
Gamers who have enjoyed the music of Ori and the Blind Forest, The Witcher 3, Metal Gear Solid 5, Killer Instinct, Minecraft, Halo, Starcraft, World of Warcraft (and many others), attending a panel run by five of the industry’s leading composers, will prove a treat.
In Maestros of Video Games, Gareth Coker, Mikolai Stroinski, Daniel James, Tom Salta and Jason Hayes will share their experiences and the craft of scoring music for videogames. The panel will be moderated by Emily Reese, award-winning radio host and producer for Level with Emily Reese.
You may know each of the composers for the following:
Ori and the Blind Forest, Minecraft: Greek Mythology, ARK: Survival Evolved (Gareth Coker).
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, The Witcher 3: Blood & Wine (Mikolai Stroinski)
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain (Daniel James)
Killer Instinct – Season 3, Halo: The Fall of Reach, Halo 1&2 Anniversary (Tom Salta)
World of Warcraft, Warcraft III, Starcraft: Legacy of the Void, Starcraft(Jason Hayes)
The Maestros of Video Games panel will be held on Saturday the 23rd of April between 11.00am and 12.00pm in the PAX Condor Theatre, Boston Convention Center.
After completion of the panel, attendees can join the composers for a meet and greet and autograph session in The Queue Room from 12.30pm to 2.00pm.
