The perennial Skylanders series will have an animated series on Netflix coming this autumn. The show, called Skylanders Academy and produced by Activision Blizzard Studios, now has some voice actors locked down, including some impressive names. These include Justin “I’m a Mac” Long as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale (“Phineas and Ferb”) as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks (“Breaking Bad”) as fan favorite Eruptor, and Norm MacDonald (“Saturday Night Live”) as Glumshanks. A number of other voice actors have been confirmed as well, including Richard Horvitz (“Invader Zim”), presumably reprising his role as series villain Kaos from the games.
There are some experienced names behind the scenes as well, including showrunner Eric Rogers (“Futurama”) and producer Sander Schwartz (“Justice League: the New Frontier”). The plot will focus on the more experienced Skylanders (particularly those from the first game based on what we know so far) teaching new recruits in the ways of the Skylanders. As a fan of the franchise’s trailers, cutscenes, and comics, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how this show turns out.
