Nomad Games brings renowned card battler Smash Up to Steam

Nomad Games have just launched the award winning deck shuffling game Smash Up on Steam’s Early Access program ahead of the official multi-platform release later this year.

In Smash Up, a player takes two factions (i.e. pirates, ninjas, robots, zombies) and combine their decks into an unstoppable force. At the beginning of the game, the players take turns drafting one of several faction decks and once each player has two decks, they shuffle them together. This action combines the two factions’ distinct abilities into a unique 40-card deck. Players then deal out a number of Base cards and play their decks to attempt to have the most power on a base when it is scored. Each combination of factions gives a unique experience and as such, Pirate-Aliens will play very differently to Pirate-Zombies.

Smash Up features the ability to play with up to four players or solo against the AI as well as online play against other players around the globe. It also offers add-on faction decks, including the base game set (and more), random or manual faction selection, a save game function for storing progress on the go, fully automated scoring (no maths, thanks), and a tutorial system (plus ‘Step Through’ and ‘Review’ modes to help players learn the game. Players can also view their progress on the Leader-boards and through achievements when they begin to play with experience.

In Nomad Games’ first ever Free to Play (F2P) game, players will enjoy all the insanity and creativity surrounding the many characters available for play. Smash Up offers the choice of being a zombie, an alien, a dinosaur or a pretty unicorn. With more factions, new bases and new features all to be added to the game during Early Access and beyond launch, players are sure to be overwhelmed by variety while smashing up decks, protecting their bases and ultimately squashing their opponents.

The F2P version of Smash Up will launch with three factions the player can join, build and fight without handing over any of their hard-earned money. If the idea of a full Starter Pack becomes too tempting, players can get it at the discounted rate of only £5.99 / $8.99 throughout the Early Access phase.

Additional factions and bases will be made available for purchase over time, but the following factions will be made available as part of the Starter Pack promotion:
