It’s been 30 years since the Guillemot brothers first created what would become the French multinational video game publishing company that we know (and occasionally even love) as Ubisoft. Teary eulogies aside, that means a celebration of sorts, and sure enough, in June this year, the company announced their Ubi 30 giveaway: each month, starting in June and ending in December, PC players have the ability to get their hands on a free classic game from the publisher’s e-store.
We’ve had Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and we’ve also had Beyond Good & Evil, but we’ve also had The Crew, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, and even Rayman: Origins. It’s a decent haul, bearing in mind these games have all invariably done pretty well by critics in their respective years, and also that they’re, well, they’re totally free.
There are two releases left, one of which has dropped today: Blood Dragon, the stand-alone addition to 2012’s Far Cry 3, will be November’s free game, available now for anyone with an Uplay account. For those of you who haven’t got one, shame on you: don’t you know that they’re literally handing games out right now? Head to the Ubi 30 web page to sign up and claim Blood Dragon plus the last, unnamed freebie on offer.
Now, I’m not going to commit to any press speculation, because I know how awful that can be. That said, we’ve rolled through most of Ubisoft’s largest game franchises, and really only have one left to explore… I’ll go no further, except to mention that noise I just heard.
Was it a blade, retracting?
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is available on the Uplay store right now, priced at exactly USD $0.00 for anyone with an Uplay account.
