Nominees announced for The Game Awards 2016; includes big names like Uncharted 4 and Overwatch

The Game Awards 2016 will soon be upon us, and a big list of nominees was just announced today (63 games!). Some of the big names announced are Uncharted 4, Overwatch, Firewatch (a lot of “watch” games), and Inside (which I am personally DYING to play).

The multiple nominees will be honored at The Game Awards 2016 this December 1st, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. These titles have been judged by 28 leading global media and influencer outlets.

Uncharted 4, which is bloody fantastic, received the most nominations, including Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Narrative, and 3 nominations for Best Performance among its principal cast. Of course, Nolan North and Troy Baker were nominated, because their voices make up 99% of the characters in the game industry. Besides the games already mentioned, Doom and Titanfall 2 were also nominated for Game of the Year (I’m glad Titanfall 2 wasn’t delayed and made the cutoff).

As far as nominations for publishers, Sony got the most (13), while EA got 10, Blizzard got 7, and Bethesda got 6. Not to be outshined by the big guys, indie developers Playdead and Campo Santo netted 5 nominations each for their work on Inside and Firewatch, respectively.

I haven't been spoiled on this game as of yet!

Geoff Keighley, The Game Awards producer/host, had this to say about the upcoming show:

“The Game Awards is all about celebrating the state of video game art. In just a few short weeks we will recognize the most outstanding games of 2016 in unexpected ways, and preview the most anticipated games of 2017 and beyond with the longest, most in-depth world premieres we’ve ever attempted — including surprises and new game announcements.”

Surprises?! We know there will be a gameplay premiere for Mass Effect: Andromeda, but otherwise that’s some effective teasing.
