When Mass Effect: Andromeda turned out to be such a huge disappointment for most gamers, the news that the franchise would be put on hiatus really hit me hard. As a fan of the series, I personally didn’t think that it was that bad. Well, to my surprise, BioWare has announced that while they are putting the finishing touches on their next big release, Anthem, they have other teams that have been hard at work on a new Mass Effect game as well as a new Dragon Age to boot.
BioWare general manager Casey Hudson stated in the company’s Mid-Summer Update that, “we hear loud and clear the interest in BioWare doing more Dragon Age and Mass Effect, so rest assured that we have some teams hidden away working on some secret stuff that I think you’ll really like – we’re just not ready to talk about any of it for a little while.”
You can’t imagine how good it is to hear this directly from Hudson. Well, if you are as big a fan of these two franchises as I am, then maybe you can.
Not much has been heard about a new Dragon Age other than a few teeny-tiny bits of scuttlebutt around a writer at BioWare, Alexis Kennedy, who let slip early last year about working on a new game in the franchise. There was also Casey Hudson revealing on Twitter earlier this year how the in-development new Dragon Age title will be a “live” experience.
The Mid-Summer Update also gave some new info on Anthem and what players will be able to expect from the game once it launches.
If you are wanting to get more juicy tidbits about Anthem before it launches sometime next year, the team is planning a huge reveal during the panel at PAX Prime, which runs from August 31 – September 3 in Seattle, WA.
