IGA to handle Quake Live’s advertising


IGA Worldwide and id Software have announced their partnership regarding Quake Live’s moneymaking aspects at the Game Developers Conference today, and that IGA will manage all advertising, sponsorship and creative branding opportunities on the upcoming Quake Live site.

Quake Live is a browser version of the FPS series that needs no introduction, and will be a free-to-play multiplayer game. All you have to do is put up with a few advertisements here and there, which isn’t really asking much considering how ad-infested most websites these days are.

The game will be accessible and playable through QuakeLive.com (nothing there yet), which will have nifty little features like friends lists, matchmaking, stats tracking, and will even have sponsored events and tournaments you can take part in.

id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead thinks IGA is the definitely right company for the job. “IGA understands game developers and game players which makes them the perfect partner for QUAKE LIVE. Whether it’s been the ease of implementing their SDK or just their excitement about QUAKE LIVE, they have been fantastic to work with. As we work to bring QUAKE-style deathmatch excitement to the masses, IGA has fully supported our vision,” Hollenshead said.

And Justin Townsend, CEO of IGA Worldwide, isn’t far behind in the usual press release love fest: “id Software is among the proverbial godfathers of modern gaming and we are thrilled to be working with them on their first title in our ‘freemium’ category. This partnership is only the latest testament to the increasing acceptance of in-game as an effective, measurable advertising medium and a strategic revenue opportunity for publishers and developers,”says Townsend.
