Who says the Wii is for old ladies? The Queen! That’s who!

The Royal Family, England’s richest, most powerful, and most covered citizens. They’ve got it all, from jewels and guards with funny hats, to a gold-plated Wii. Wait a minute? A gold-plated Wii? Yep, no joke. This morning, Her Royal Highness accepted the somewhat unexpected gift of a shiny console, complete with golden controllers, and a copy of BIG Family Games.

It’s obviously a big publicity stunt on THQ’s part, but heck if royalty’s playing this game, shouldn’t you be too? Product Manager Danielle Robinson commented on how “BIG Family Games is the ultimate Wii game to get all family members, from grandparents, to young children playing together.” Of course, there are a gazillion other party games on the Wii that would say otherwise. “The Royal Family is arguably the most important family in the country so we felt that they had to have a copy of the new game.” I wonder if they’ll also be sending Gordon Brown a copy of Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?

I’m not sure if the Royal Family will be playing Big Family Games a lot now that Prince William and Harry are all grown up, but at least The Queen can finally sink her teeth into Resident Evil 4.
