When Atlus first announced Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble, it was slated for a nebulous “early next year” release, but thankfully we’ll only have to wait until tomorrow to loose our deadly laser-eye stare!
The beat ’em up, which places players in the floor-sweeping gakuran of a delinquent student who sees the senior school trip as his chance to become the baddest bancho in Japan, releases on UMD November 10. But if you’re willing to wait a couple of days, it will also be available on PSN November 12. Both versions retail for $39.99, as if you could put a price tag on hilarious slang-laden dialogue like “If you’re not a bancho, you’re a candy-ass shabazo!” As with every title they localize, Atlus’ dedication to preserving the original game’s flavor and humor makes it a pretty safe bet. I mean, if they can make even a boring press release funny, the actual game is sure to be a hysterical.
“[Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble] spontaneously ignited a king-of-the-hill style throwdown here at the Atlus offices. People were dressing up in all sorts of cool, unique outfits, just like in the game, and then proceeding to beat the living crap out of each other, vying for the title of ultimate Atlus badass,” said Atlus’ Public Relations Specialist Crystal Murray in a press release. “Unfortunately, things went awry when one of our editors ruptured a blood vessel in his eye trying to use his menchi beam. Get well soon, Clayton.”
