Update: Alan Wake‘s May sales in NA stand at 145k, NPD’s now confirmed.
Original story: In the two weeks following its May 18th release in North America, Finnish developer Remedy’s Xbox 360 exclusive psychological action thriller Alan Wake managed to sell under 200,000 copies.
That’s according to Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter who’s — since NPD doesn’t tend to publicly release numbers beyond the top five software sellers (AW was nr8 in May) — shined some light on the matter.
The analyst’s information is similar to data the number crunchers at VGChartz have collected; just over 200,000 copies in the Americas for the two week period (521,000 worldwide life-to-date).
Fingers crossed this doesn’t put the lads “selling hotdogs in Helsinki” then. Probably not.
In comparison, PS3/360 title Red Dead Redemption pushed through 1.5 million copies in the same time frame, while Wii exclusive Super Mario Galaxy 2 trailed with half a million units, which is “well below” what its predecessor managed, according to Pachter.
Joining Alan Wake in the sub-200k line were Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands, Blur, Lost Planet 2 and Skate 3.
