THQ: Saint’s Row on XBLA to be “really cool, unique”

Could this be the start of the Saint’s Row 3 marketing and PR roll out that THQ’s Danny Bilson said was suppose to happen this year? If so, the publisher is possibly taking a page from the Dead Rising 2 and Dead Space 2 playbooks by offering an Xbox Live Arcade supplemental title; this one having a “completely original game mechanic.”

With no details given, Bilson began talking up the XBLA version of Saint’s Row 3, THQ’s it’s-not-a-GTA-clone-I-swear gangster sim, saying that the unannounced arcade title will be a “really cool, unique game.” Lending more credibility to our assumption of the arcade title being an extension of the main game, Bilson went on to say that the XBLA version has changed since its conception because they wanted to do something “more unique” with the arcade version.

“This is just creative but we wound up feeling the game we were building was too much like a section of Saint’s Row that you could play in Saint’s Row,” explained Bilson. “Now we’ve come up with a new design with a completely original game mechanic and we’re building out something that supports Saint’s Row with that.”

And so we wait…
