SWTOR responsibilities shift from Lucasfilm to EA

EA has taken on more publishing responsibilities when it comes to releasing its BioWare-developed Star Wars: The Old Republic next year; the publishing giant and Lucasfilm have revised their agreement to ensure that “all publishing, marketing and distribution responsibilities can be centralized for efficiency.”

Lucasfilm is still involved and will collaborate on design and marketing, but there’s now more weight on EA’s shoulders to make sure their largest game to date (that some believe will never be profitable) will have a solid start.

Still no dates on when exactly that start might be, but the MMO is still expected to launch worldwide next spring.
