UK charts: Assassin’s Creed, Need for Speed unable to overthrow Black Ops

Even with big new releases last week, there’s no stopping Activision’s shooter mammoth; regardless of an 85% drop in sales over the previous week when it grossed more “than the entire UK entertainment software market over the previous two weeks combined,” Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops holds off Ubisoft and EA’s newcomers Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. The two had to settle for the second and third spots, respectively.

Brotherhood had the biggest launch the franchise has seen yet, data collector GFK Chart-Track points out, and now lies just 63,000 copies behind Black Ops.

EA’s second newcomer of the week, Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows – Part 1, debuts at #20.
