Microsoft files a patent for more realistic touchscreen technology

That headline is in layman’s terms by the way. Basically, the industry giant is working on touchscreen that uses pixel-sized shape-memory plastic cells to replicate real textures. So if you have a rock on screen you could actually feel the… rockiness of it. Neat, huh?

It would take a lot of work and even more sciencey stuff that none of us could never hope to understand, but we’re already dreaming about what it could mean for gaming. Feeling the cold steel of a gun? Scrambeling up a cliff side? It definitely has some awesome potential.
