People found 1.5 million reasons to choose Nintendo during Black Friday week

Black Friday was a busy day, week even, and according to Nintendo’s internal estimates, around 1.5 million of the company’s consoles were sold during the week of Black Friday, which include 900,000 units across the DS brand and 600,000 Wii systems between November 21st and 27th, both systems boosted by the addition of multiple colors and bundles.

“US shoppers bought about 9,000 Nintendo hardware systems non-stop for every hour of every day during the week of Black Friday,” said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, adding that, according to consumers, Nintendo defines “both top value and all-inclusive entertainment, and that sentiment continues again at the start of this shopping season.”

January 2011 will undoubtedly show some interesting statistics now that Microsoft and Sony both have involved themselves in the motion-controlled business and should be considered as direct competitors to Nintendo.
