Lightning Returns demo available now for the PS3 and 360; PS3 demo comes with exclusive, knightly Utsusemi Garb DLC

Today, Square Enix announced that a playable demo of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is available to download this instant for Xbox Live Gold members (Silver members have to wait until January 28th) on the 360 and for PS3 gamers through the PSN.

As a special bonus for Sony console loyalists, players who download the demo through the PSN will receive the medieval Utsusemi Garb DLC (pictured above) for free, complete with fan and shield! This costume will carry over into the main game when it releases on February 11th and can even be purchased by latecomers who completely forget to download the demo for free stuff!

The demo sees Lightning running through the enemy-infested Yusnaan palace of her old ally, Snow, and gamers will get to experience the new customization options and battle system of Lightning Returns DAYS before the actual title comes out. Players who activate the online Outerworld services and submit their battle scores against the demo’s boss will receive the ‘Siegfried’ outfit for use in the retail game (check it out below!).

Lightning looks "royally" pissed, and "knightly" so

Go download the demo now here (360) or here (PS3). Lightning Returns will be available for the 360 and PS3 on February 11th and can also be downloaded digitally through the PSN. The title will set you back $59.99. Rich gamers can opt for the super special limited edition version of the game exclusively through Square Enix’s Online Store, as long as they can pony up $89.99 (dat pocket watch, tho!). Anyone running to their consoles to start Lightning’s third adventure?
