Warlords of Draenor, the new expansion pack for perennial MMORPG World of Warcraft, has officially launched. This expansion is meant to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise, with its story bringing back elements from the classic strategy games. It also marks the 10th anniversary of WoW itself.
The expansion’s plot has the player travel to the unusual world of Draenor. There, they will find themselves fighting against the Iron Horde, an army of orcs that will feature clans familiar to players of past Warcraft games. Blizzard has also said that specific characters from the past will appear in this expansion. Mechanically, one of the most advertised aspects of this expansion is that it allows each player to automatically advance one of their characters to level 90. This is in preparation for the new level cap: the magic number 100. Warlords of Draenor also introduces the ability to make a custom base, called a Garrison, for you and your NPC followers.
The standard edition of Warlords of Draenor is available in both digital and physical forms for $49.99 USD. You can also get the Digital Deluxe Edition for $69.99 USD, and it features new content for a variety of Blizzard games. For WoW itself, you will get a new Dread Raven mount and Dread Hatchling pet. It also includes new Warchief Portraits for StarCraft II, a new pennant for Diablo III, and a new card back for Hearthstone.
