Activision announced at Gamescom that a number of familiar villains will have toys and be fully playable in Skylanders Imaginators. First off, series villain Kaos will be a fully playable character for the first time, with his own “sensei” figure. He’s a fan favorite, but his playability was limited in Trap Team and Superchargers. In these previous games, the toys that allowed players to use the villain were originally confined to the game’s “Dark Edition” starter packs until some time after the game’s release. This time around, the Kaos figure will be given free to customers who pre-order and buy the game.
Next, the company gave more details about guest character Crash Bandicoot, who was announced at E3 as a PlayStation-exclusive character. He will be joined in the Crash Bandicoot-themed Starter Pack by his nemesis, Dr. Neo Cortex. Furthermore, a Crash Bandicoot-themed stage will be made available in the game for those who buy this version of the Starter Pack. The stage merges classic Crash mechanics with the gameplays of Skylanders, bringing back TNT boxes, Wumpa Fruit, and more. And don’t worry too much if you’re planning to play Imaginators on an Xbox or Wii U; a pack including the stage, Crash, and Cortex will be released for other consoles during the holiday season. So now, it’s not just Crash and Spyro in the same game; they can fight alongside Donkey Kong and Bowser as well.
Skylanders Imaginators is set to release on October 16th for Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. The normal starter pack will retail for $74.99, while the Dark Edition and Crash Bandicoot edition going for $99.99.
