Many of us PC nuts will probably know or at least heard of a certain space adventure game by Frontier Developments called Elite Dangerous; it’s been about for a while now and if that’s your genre then it’s something you may well have experienced. I’d be surprised, however, if many console gamers have come across this little gem. That is all about to change because it’s going to be blasting its way onto the PS4.
If you happen to like multi-player space epics then this one might just be up your street and you’ll be able to grab yourself a copy from June 27th. You’ll be able to get digital copies of Elite Dangerous and the Elite Dangerous: Horizons season-pass from the Playstation Store, either as stand-alone products or together as part of the Command Deluxe Edition of the game, which comes complete with the addition of the bonus Commander Paint Pack.
Should you wish to pre-order a copy of the game you absolutely can. You can do this in Europe from today. Should you be on the other side of the pond, however, pre-orders will be available from May 30th. Those of you that go down this route will get the exclusive Gold Sidewinder paint job for your troubles.
On top of all of this the Elite Dangerous: Legendary Edition will be available on the same day for Xbox One and Playstation 4 from physical retailers. This edition consists of the game, season-pass and 1000 Frontier Points that you can spend on in-game cosmetic items.
So, what can you expect from the game? Well, in true sci-fi fashion you’ll take control of your own starship and head out into a dangerous galaxy. Set in the year 3300, you’ll explore a vast, full-scale recreation of the Milky Way. This is a galaxy at war and it will be up to you to choose your role. You may be a hero, a pirate, a smuggler or an assassin. Regardless of the path you choose you will certainly make yourself known as you start with a basic ship and a handful of credits and claw your way up the ladder into the ranks of the Elite.
Your actions effect the world around you and whether you prefer to be a lone wolf or go out with a band of friends is entirely up to you. After all, in the end it’s all just about getting more skilled and of course having fun. If this is ringing some bells for you, you know exactly what you need to go and do from June 27th when a little trip to the stars may be in order.
