Ubisoft announces Far Cry 5, with a February 27, 2018 release date

Ubisoft hit gamers with a trailer for their upcoming Far Cry 5, and boy howdy, is it unsettling. Take a look for yourself below:

Seems like a pleasant stay for a vacation.

Set in the fictional location of Hope County in the very real state of Montana, Far Cry 5 finds our protagonist arriving in Hope County after a years-long silent coup by a group named the Project at Eden’s Gate. Finding yourself in the middle of a power struggle between this cult and the Resistance, you must disrupt the cult’s plans and help liberate the community.

Far Cry 5 sees players utilizing a variety of weapons, from baseball bats, to grenades, to bears and cougars. Gamers can also take part in plane fights, boat fights, and big rig fights (so much ‘MERICA). You can also recruit fighters to your cause, and even create battlegrounds using a map editor.

I’m gonna recruit the hell out of this bull

If you game on the PS4, you can enjoy free extra content if you purchase Far Cry 5 at launch, which will be on February 27, 2018. If you use a PC or Xbone, you’ll have to access the content through the Ubisoft Club.

More info on Far Cry 5 can be viewed on the game’s website. For now, check out some character vignettes below (I sure hope they ALSO don’t have messed up ideals, but one of them surely will, this being a Far Cry game and all).
