An Elder Scrolls MMO out next year?

The on-going legal battle between Bethesda and Interplay has brought forth information suggesting that an Elder Scrolls MMO is in the works.

We already knew that Zenimax Online — Bethesda parent company Zenimax’s MMO studio — is working on a project. Bethesda has now apparently disclosed some information about that project in their court case against Interplay, information they’re looking to redact.

According to Bethesda’s testimony, work on the project has been going on since 2006 when a team was first assigned to it and has been going forward full steam since 2007 (Zenimax Online was formed in the same year), with an expected 4-year development timetable. If DAC’s reporting is accurate then there are “close to a hundred people” working on the World of Warcraft-like MMO that has seen “tens and tens of millions of dollars” invested into it. And if sources are to be believed, it’s an Elder Scrolls MMO originally meant to be revealed last year.

If this all pans out then the game should launch next year, with official word hopefully arriving this year.
