Kevin Conroy -– the official voice of Batman, a well known fact by every Batman fan — has revealed a few details about the sequel to the critically acclaimed and award winning Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Gamerant reports that while speaking at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, Conroy was asked about a possible release date for Arkham Asylum 2 by an audience member, to which he replied: “[We] just recorded the primary tracks two weeks ago. But now it goes to the artist. I know we’re doing a second batch of recording in August, so I think probably they are hoping to have it out by Christmas. That’s really (tight?), I don’t know, probably closer to spring.”

Are Rocksteady going to pull a ‘Left 4 Dead 2’ and release the game just a year after the original?

Also in Arkham Asylum 2 news, two voice actors have revealed their roles in the upcoming title.

Actress Stana Katic tweeted: “Just recorded a character voice on the next Batman video game. Never did that before. Helpful hint: plenty of water and pineapple slices.”

She then tweeted again shortly after: “For those who were asking: I’m voicing Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra al Ghul (played by Liam Neeson in “Batman Begins”)”

The tweets have since been removed, so I guess she wasn’t supposed to reveal that yet. Oops.

That didn’t stop another actor from revealing that he’s been cast as Mr. Freeze though. In an interview on the Geekcastradio podcast (*.mp3 link), actor Maurice LaMarche said, “Video games is hard work, I’ll say that. I’ve only done a handful, and I’m very lucky right now, I’m about to go in and do Mr. Freeze for Arkham Asylum 2.”

While Mr. Freeze was only referenced in the original title in one of the Riddler’s challenges, it’s clear he’s set to make a proper appearance in the sequel.

When asked to give a taster of what Mr. Freeze will sound like, LaMarche said: “To tell you the truth, I think, contractually, I can’t. I’ve got to keep it under wraps,” and then goes on to say, “Yeah, he’s out for blood right now because, err… I can’t tell you the situation but he’s actually somewhat a sympathetic character within the framework of the game.”

Being the big Batman fan I am, my excitement for Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 just keeps growing with every little piece of news. Hopefully we’ll get a new trailer soon.
