Assassin’s Creed creator joining THQ, to develop new IP
Patrice Desilets, the creative mind behind Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and the Assassin’s Creed franchise, is joining THQ.
The publisher is today formally announcing its Montreal studio, and has revealed that Desilets will be joining up next summer to form a new studio within it.
“The best way we can deliver fresh, high-quality gaming experiences is by working with the best talent,” THQ’s executive VP Danny Bilson says in today’s announcement.
“We expect calendar 2011 to be a watershed year for THQ, and adding developers like Patrice helps ensure our focus on new IP and great games charted by leading industry artists.”
Desilets and the team he gathers will be in charge of developing new intellectual properties for the publisher.
“Simply put, we can’t wait for Patrice to join THQ,” Bilson adds. “Patrice brings a passion for games rich with action-packed sequences, gripping characters and cinematic flair, and we’re all looking forward to having him and his newly formed team develop an all new franchise with us.”
Desilets left Ubisoft earlier this year to take a “creative break from the industry.” He was with the company for 13 years.
