Assassin’s Creed III breaks Ubisoft’s pre-order record
Assassin’s Creed III is just a few days away from being released, but it’s already breaking records. Ubisoft announced today that Assassin’s Creed III has now taken the title of most pre-ordered game for the company. ACIII shattered the record by almost doubling that of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Ubisoft’s previous pre-order record holder.
“Pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed III at GameStop are nearly 100% higher than last year, putting the game on track to be one of the top titles of 2012,” said Tony Bartel, president of GameStop.
“Assassin’s Creed III is one of the most anticipated games of the year and this impressive pre-order mark is just a hint of the game’s potential,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales & marketing, Ubisoft. “When players discover the new features, historical period, characters and gaming experience that the development team has worked so hard to create, we’re confident that they will agree that this is the biggest, best Assassin’s Creed game yet.”
Let’s hope he’s right, or there will be a lot of disappointed fans out there, myself included.
As a franchise, Assassin’s Creed has already sold over 40 million copies worldwide, according to Ubisoft. Though there was no information as to how those numbers are distributed within each title.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, you can get some more information on Connor by taking a look at this trailer here. Also in case you didn’t know, this may be the last Assassin’s Creed game with Desmond (it also provides a good review of the story so far if you need a refresher).
Assassin’s Creed III hits Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 30th, with the PC and Wii U version following later in November.
