Assassin’s Creed IV will go where it pleases

The next Assassin’s Creed — due out in 2013, most likely — doesn’t necessarily have to inch its story closer to modern times. Going wherever, or rather whenever they want doesn’t pose a problem for the developers at Ubisoft, according to producer Francois Pelland.

He explained to Metro at a recent preview event for Assassin’s Creed III (It seems they’ve since pulled their story. There’s an embargo.): “It’s a question we’ve been getting a lot. It’s not a moving forward thing, it’s all based on lineage and on DNA and therefore it has nothing to do with time. The next game could easily go backwards as much as forward, no problem.”

The takeaway? New character Connor’s star may not shine longer than for a single game.

Assassin’s Creed III will be out this October. Keep an  eye out for our own preview next week.
