The history of the sequel to the underappreciated Beyond Good & Evil has been a curious one. After being first shown at Ubisoft’s Ubidays event in May 2008, Beyond Good & Evil 2 went completely silent for an entire year — except for a few quotes about it being “more accessible” — until some alleged gameplay prototype footage surfaced and Laurent Detoc, Ubisoft’s CEO of North American operations, surprisingly said BG&E2 actually coming out isn’t even a certainty. Follow that up with the August 2009 news that the game was reportedly put on hold and you’ve got a pretty ‘what-the..?’ chain of events leading up to today’s news. Which is that, according to Ubisoft France boss Geoffroy Sardin, the game is “always” in production.
“They’re both always in production,” he said while referring to BG&E2 and I Am Alive.
Yeah.. I got nothing.
