BFBC2 sells 5 million, makes “great strides” towards EA’s FPS domination
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a millionaire five times over.
According to publisher EA’s fiscal 2010 earnings report, released today, the DICE-developed shooter has sold over 5 million copies since its launch back in early March and exceeded the publisher’s expectations while doing so.
In other words, the game made “great strides” towards EA’s plans to regain their FPS leadership, as CEO John Ricittiello put it on a conference call discussing the fiscal year’s results earlier today. The other part of the equation, Medal of Honor, is expected to make further strides as it releases in October, a full month before main rival Call of Duty: Black Ops. Ricittello didn’t estimate numbers but said the Afghanistan-bound title is ‘fully expected to be a success’.
