A little early this year, but as if there was any wonder that another of these would roll along. Blizzard today announced the dates for their next BlizzCon, being held in Anaheim, CA — August 21-22. As in years past, the con will celebrate the games and franchises that made Blizzard employees oodles of money (World of Warcraft mostly) in a variety of ways. Chief among those is letting fans play those games, namely the upcoming Starcraft II and Diablo III.
Also lined up will be discussion panels with developers where people buried in basements playing WoW will likely step outside to complain about aggro or spell art or other mundane specks of gameplay, competitive and casual tournaments, merchandise to make even more money, contests, a silent auction, and some to-be-announced things as well (Still holding out for a Blackthorne 2 announcement here). Not mentioned but very likely to return will be absurd demand for tickets to the event, cosplayers both hot and not, and eBay auctions of Starcraft II beta keys.
