Updated / Bungie’s next an MMO
Update: No MMO, after all. Even if it didn’t come across that way, Aldridge was “playfully riffing off of the recent rumors,” Bungie’s latest weekly update informs.
The studio’s next is still a mystery then.
Original story: From Halos to MMOs, that’s the leap Bungie are making in their deal with Activision.
Bungie lead network engineer David Aldridge took the chance at a GDC panel to reveal the tiniest few first details about their new project. During his talk titled “I Shot You First: Networking the Gameplay of Halo: Reach“, Aldridge confirmed the team’s next title to be a massively multiplayer action game. He didn’t say much else other than that the project wasn’t called “WoW in space” in reference to earlier rumors.
Last year’s GDC saw Bungie’s Joseph Staten hint: “Wouldn’t it be great if we could make a world that was always there for you?” Indeed.
