Call of Juarez: The Cartel angers Mexico with its Mexican slaughter

You could kind of see this one coming; Mexican officials aren’t happy about the recently announced Call of Juarez: The Cartel, a shooter which focuses on gangs in Mexico.

Ricardo Boone Salmon, a congressman for Chihuahua state recently said of the game: “It is true there is a serious crime situation, which we are not trying to hide. But we also should not expose children to this kind of scenarios so that they are going to grow up with this kind of image and lack of values.”

Given how recently Cartel was announced, you can expected this affair to be a long one, similar to EA’s battle with Medal of Honor. State congress leader Enrique Serrano ushered similar concerns. He said: “They believe so much blood and death is normal. Children wind up being easily involved in criminal acts over time, because among other things, during their childhood not enough care has been taken about what they see on television and playing video games.”

State legislators in the border town of Ciudad Juarez have called for a ban on the game. Given recent examples, they could well be successful.
