DICE boss: competitors ‘getting lazy’
It’s not often that triple-A studios directly criticize the competition, but that’s just what’s happened here today; DICE boss Karl-Magnus Trodesson has gone on record saying “our competitors are getting lazy.”
No doubt, that reference is to Call of Duty makers Activision.
“They’re using the same engine, the same recipe for building a game. At some point you need to take that leap. I haven’t seen them take that leap since a long time ago,” he said. “We are doing that now. They had better watch out. We are coming for them.”
Battlefield 3 is due out on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this fall. Though it’s yet to be announced, a new Call of Duty–likely Modern Warfare 3–will also debut in that period. It’s on!
