EA is lobbying to make Origin the exclusive digital delivery platform for Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U console, rumor has it.
According to WiiUGo, the tip comes from an unnamed EA intern who got the information from a network engineer.
Nintendo is on the lookout for “an opportunity to rebuild relationships with Western gamers because they feel that only a massive western company such as EA understands what is needed to make an online service attractive to western gamers,” it’s said.
Steam operator Valve is also believed to be involved, but EA is supposedly all in and “aggressively persuading Nintendo to go Origin-exclusive with Wii U’s online so they can gain a competitive advantage over Steam.”
True or not, we fully expect to know for sure at E3 2012 at the latest, which is where the final hardware will be revealed and showcased.
