Elden Ring: Maiden Blood & Where to Get It

In Elden Ring it can be tricky to keep hold of your runes. Thankfully, there are a couple of places that make farming them a breeze. The best of these can be found at Mohgwyn Palace. But this is a late game area that involves completing several quests and killing multiple bosses to get into. Unless you complete White Mask Varré’s questline.

You must find some maiden blood at one point during his quest. But if you have been paying attention to Varré’s dialogue, you will know that you don’t actually have a maiden. Fortunately, there are a couple of alternatives for you to use.

In this article, we will look at how to do Varre’s quest line and, ultimately, the four places you can pick up some maiden blood.

Varre’s Quest

When you first meet white faced Varre, he is standing at your first real site of grace. If you talk to him, he will immediately make fun of you for having no maiden, and generally makes it hard not to want to stab him in the face.

After leaving him behind to go exploring Limgrave and clearing Stormveil Castle, you will return to find that he has disappeared and left a message for you to meet him at Rose Church in Liurnia of the Lakes.

Once you track him down again, chat to him again and make sure you pick the option thats negative about the two fingers. He will reward you with five Festering Bloody Fingers, which you can use to invade other players.

Varre will want you to invade three games to progress, but if you are playing offline, you can also kill the NPC called Magnus the Beast Claw. His sign can be found in one of the ruined buildings in the Writheblood Ruins.

With that task complete, simply return to him and speak to him once more. He will invite you to join his Order and will hand you the Lord of Blood’s Favor, a pure white oath cloth. His final trial is that you are supposed to soak in maiden blood.

Aquiring Maiden’s Blood Through Murder

Irina

The easiest place for you to get some maiden’s blood is from Irina on the Weeping Peninsula. You can obtain it quickly by mercilessly killing her as soon as you meet her or by obtaining it from her corpse at the end of her quest line.

Hyetta

The other person you can kill to get it is Hyetta. She can be found in a variety of locations depending on whether or not you have previously spoken with her.

  1. Found near the Lake-Facing Cliffs site of grace, in Liurna of the Lakes.
  2. Found on the western side of the Purified Ruins, also in Liurnia of the Lakes
  3. Found to the north of the Gate Town Bridge site of grace, in Liurnia.
  4. Found in Bellum Church, northeastern Liurnia of the Lakes.
  5. Found at Frenzied Flame Proscription, far below Leyndell, Royal Capital.

It’s worth noting that she will only spawn once Irina’s quest is complete, so if you want to commit murder and want the maiden’s blood fast, just go to Irena.

Clean(ish) Hands – Dead Maiden

Church of Inhibition

If you aren’t feeling like murdering any blind NPCs, then the next best place to get maiden’s blood is from the corpse in the Church of Inhibition, in eastern Liurnia. Stay on the hills in the region’s east, near the Frenzied Flame Village (you can use the frenzy flaming tower as a guide) and the region’s minor erdtree, to get to the church.

Be warned that when you arrive there for the first time, there will be an invader. Once the invader is dispatched, you will find the dead maiden sitting on a chair next to the site of grace. You can also take the finger maiden armor set from her body.

Chapel Of Anticipation

Elden Ring Maiden Blood, Chapel of Anticipation

The final dead maiden that you can get blood from is at the Chapel of Anticipation. If you are unfamiliar with the name, it is the starting area. There is only one way to get back to this area, which requires you to have an Imbued Sword Key.

When you have the key you need to travel to The Four Belfries in west Liurnia. As the name suggests, there are four Belfries to choose from. The one that you will need to unlock is the second belfry, with the message reading “Precipice of Anticipation”. Watch out while you are checking the messages as there is a spirit troll that spawns in.

Once you have the right portal and travel through it, you might have to face the Grafted Scion boss, depending on whether you managed to kill it at the beginning or not. At this stage in the game, you shouldn’t have too much difficulty killing it.

Once that’s dealt with, simply head back to the church you started the game in. There you will find the dead maiden sitting on the floor on the left side.

Note: With all the bodies you will need to interact with the “dye cloth with maiden’s blood.” prompt to actually collect the blood

Finishing The Quest

Return to white-faced Varre at the Rose Church with the blood-soaked Lord of Blood’s Favor, and he will welcome you into the bloody finger club and award you the Pureblood Knight’s Medal.

It’s the medal that allows you to teleport to the Mohgwyn Palace, leaving you free to farm runes to your heart’s content.

Final Thoughts

Overall, there are multiple places for you to find maiden blood in Elden Ring. Whether you murder a blind NPC or taking it from the body of an already dead finger maiden, the choice is yours, and it’s all worth it so you can unlock the Mohgwyn Palace without going to the Consecrated Snowfield.
