Guerrilla Games eyeing development on NGP
Understandably, Guerrilla Games was a little busy prettying up Killzone 3 for its release this week. As for its next project, lead producer Steven ter Heide hints to Gamasutra that it’s sizing up NGP. Asked if the studio might return to portable gaming, ter Heide states: “It’s something we are looking at, but for now our focus remains on the PS3.”
“We have built up our experience, tools, and engine on that platform,” he continues. “But as with all Sony hardware, we will always keep an eye out and see if there is something we want to be involved with.”
Guerrilla will likely be among the first to get an early crack at the portable platform, and ter Heide likes it that way: “That’s really one of the benefits of being a first-party studio, early access to all of the new toys!”
Sony Cambridge, Guerrilla’s sister studio, will be driving development for Killzone on NGP. Ter Heide offered his blessing earlier this month stating, “We feel like the game is in good hands. We’ll still oversee it because the universe is something we’ve built up, we know the war and the rules that have been established, but they’re driving the development.”
