Heavenly Sword 2 in the works — UK mag

2007’s Ninja Theory-developed Heavenly Sword is getting a follow-up, UK PlayGamer magazine is reportedly reporting.

An open-world adventure, as opposed to the quite linear original, the sequel is said to take place 10 years after the events of the first game, will feature replayable missions in an interactive environment, but will not be giving quick access to the sword itself. Instead, players are required to earn access to it by first mastering martial arts.

Take all of this with a grain of salt for now though as we haven’t even seen a snap of the mag in question, but apparently an E3 reveal next month is expected.

Ninja Theory has in the past expressed interest in developing a sequel, but seeing as the first game’s reported 1.5 million copies sold were not enough for the studio to break even, it was forced to move to multiplatform development in order to survive. The property however stayed at Sony. Here’s hoping, then.
