Kid Icarus: Uprising won’t get a sequel
Despite its critical and financial success, Project Sora’s latest endeavor will remain a one-hit-wonder.
In a recent interview with IGN, lead designer Masahiro Sakurai (famed creator of Kirby and Super Smash Bros.) explained that the explosive nature of Kid Icarus: Uprising would not continue to be novel over the course of multiple games. He noted that he and his team are leaving the franchise behind–and, comedically, that the next Kid Icarus game might come along after another 25 years.
Fans of the game disheartened by this news should at least take solace in the idea that Sakurai and his team pulled no punches. Presumably, with their recent 3DS smash hit behind them, Project Sora will begin to focus its full attention on the fourth installment of the Super Smash Bros. series.
