Mass Effect 3 multiplayer confirmed

The long-standing rumor of Mass Effect 3‘s multiplayer component has been confirmed; it has one.

Aussie mag PC Powerplay breaks the news on its website (cheers, Paul), leaving no room for interpretation: “That’s right – Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer!”

“We travel to BioWare’s office in Edmonton for hands-on time with the series’ first foray into online gameplay, and chat with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson about the decision to go multiplayer in the epic battle for the galaxy.”

The mag’s latest cover (here) also reads: “Fight alongside your friends as the galaxy goes to war!”

This comes just after a South African retailer advertised the game’s “online multiplayer pass” and Xbox World 360 promising “a killer new feature” reveal in its next issue.

The game’s been also rumored to have a co-op element to it. Time will tell on that one.
