Minecraft Marketplace coming to Windows 10 and mobile
The Discovery Update is right around the corner and according to Minecraft developers, it is bringing a wealth of mystery for you to uncover. While the new update will entail more adventures, locations, and treasures, there is still more ‘in-store’ (pun totally intended). Select merchandise will soon be available for purchase directly from the Minecraft community in the all new Marketplace. Pocket players and Windows 10 users can browse, download and interact with creations from users within the community. Purchases will sync across all devices via the user’s Xbox Live account.
Microsoft has joined forces to create an awesome launch catalogue that is filled with epic new maps, texture packs, mini-games and more from 9 big-name users including Noxcrew, BlockWorks, and Qwertyuiop The Pie. Have a cool creation you’d like to submit? For more info on how to apply, go here! Note: A registered business is currently required for submissions.
The newest addition comes from the introduction of Minecraft Coins, which are to be purchased with real currency. A few of the prices that will be available for purchase are listed below:
- $1.99 for 300 coins
- $4.99 for 840 coins
- $9.99 for 1,720 coins
The purpose of this new currency is to provide Minecraft creators with another form of income, allowing them more time to create bigger, better, and more advanced projects from home; while giving Pocket and Windows 10 players access to additional content for a better gaming experience. It’s a win-win for both players and creators!
A public beta launch is coming to Android in mid-April which will focus on testing the new Minecraft Coins, so new creator content will not be available just yet. The Marketplace will be up and fully functional later in April once the much awaited Discovery Update is released. If you have any questions, tune in for a live Q&A on Reddit MCPE, Thursday, 20 April, from 9am – 12pm PST. Happy crafting!
