What would happen if you took the team behind SOCOM and asked them to make a Resident Evil game? If your answer was “I bet that would be like SOCOM, but with zombies” you might not be far off. According to a source-of-a-source at stickskills, the next issue of Offical Xbox Magazine reveals that Slant Six, who’s worked on previous SOCOM titles, will be developing Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, a “team-based shooter” where you and three friends play as members of the Umbrella Corp. trying to cover up the virus outbreak that was the backdrop for Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
You can check out all the details in the upcoming May edition of OXM, or read bullet points from stickskills here. Here are some of my favorite tidbits on the title: 1) Along with slaying the zombies, you’re looking to “kill pretty much every survivor possible”. 2) Zombies in the game can sense you in three different manners: sight, sound, and smell. 3) Depending on how you play the game will give you the option to “change the history of Resident Evil”. 4) One of the pictures in the article showcases a zombie being used as a “meatshield”. I think that about sums it up right there.
